Where will AELA 2026 take place?
The AdventureELEVATE Latin America 2026 event, organized by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), will take place in Lima, Peru.

How to Get to Lima
By Air
The main entry point is the Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), located in the constitutional province of Callao, approximately 10 km (6 miles) from Lima's Historic Center.

- Connections: It functions as a major hub in Latin America, offering excellent national and international connections.
Airport Transfers
- Taxis/Ride-Sharing Services: From the airport, secure taxi services (contracted inside the airport) or ride-sharing apps are the most common options to reach the Sheraton Lima Historic Center. Travel time can vary significantly due to Lima traffic, ranging from 30 to 60 minutes.
Getting Around - Lima
Taxis and Ride-Sharing Apps: These are the most common means for medium and long distances. Make sure to use reliable services or well-known apps.
Public Transportation: The Metropolitano is a rapid transit bus system that can be useful for connecting certain areas, but it is not always the most convenient option for tourists.
Walking: The Historic Center of Lima, where the Sheraton is located, is very walkable, allowing you to easily explore its squares, churches, and museums.

Also, Lima has a wide variety of accommodation options in different districts. It is recommended to book well in advance.
Popular Districts for Tourists:
- Miraflores: Known for its cliffs overlooking the Pacific, parks, shops, restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. It is considered the modern tourist hub.
- San Isidro: The city's financial center, featuring luxury hotels and boutiques, ideal for a quiet and elegant atmosphere.
- Barranco: The bohemian district, famous for its colonial architecture, bridges, art galleries, and bars.
Practical Information
- Climate (June/September): The climate is typically mild and overcast with high humidity. Temperatures are moderate, usually ranging from 12°C to 19°C (54°F to 66°F). Expect frequent misty drizzle (known as garúa), especially in the early morning and late evening, but generally no heavy rainfall.
- Language: The main language is Spanish. In tourist areas and hotels, English is commonly spoken.
- Currency: The official currency is the Peruvian Sol (S/.).
- Tipping: It is customary to leave a tip of 10% of the total bill in restaurants, although it is not mandatory. For taxis and other services, the fare is usually rounded up at the customer's discretion.
- Electricity: The standard voltage is 220 V with a frequency of 60 Hz. Plugs are types A, B, and C.
- Drinking Water: It is not recommended to drink tap water in Lima. It is best to consume bottled water.
- Time Zone: Peru is on Peru Standard Time (PET), which is UTC-5. It does not observe Daylight Saving Time.
- Emergency Call: The general emergency number is 911 (in Peru, it connects to the National Police) or 105 (Emergencies and Police).
