Every year, representatives from the adventure travel industry come together at the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) to talk shop, get inspired and enjoy a decidedly adventurous destination anywhere in the world. Produced by the Adventure Travel Trade Association, the Summit is for tour operators, adventure travel writers and influencers, tourism boards, gear partners, and industry partners. More than just a conference, the Summit is a global gathering of an industry that works hard and plays hard, offering deep-dive educational content, big name keynote speakers and endless networking opportunities – both structured and off-site — including a Tour Operator MARKETPLACE with a globally diverse group of businesses and destinations and a MediaConnect session where delegates can pitch story ideas to over 45 international travel journalists, editors, and content creators..

If there's one event I look forward to the most each year it's the ATWS. The ability to network, share, learn and laugh with so many brilliant minds in the adventure travel space makes this a 'must attend' event.
Discover the Adventure Travel World Summit
Sweden 2019
From 16-19 September 2019, 773 adventure travel industry professionals from 72 countries gathered for the Adventure Travel World Summit in Gothenburg, Sweden, to reconnect with the essence of adventure.
The Summit’s theme, omtanke, the Swedish word which connotes “caring” and “consideration,” challenged delegates to think critically about the way forward and reconsider the important role the adventure travel community holds within the tourism industry throughout the four-day event.
Tuscany 2018
From 15-18 October 2018, 785 adventure travel industry professionals from 67 countries gathered for the Adventure Travel World Summit in Tuscany, Italy, to reconnect with the essence of adventure. The Summit’s theme, Wellspring, called upon delegates to return to their source, revisit their roots, and reconsider the important role the adventure travel community holds within the tourism industry throughout the four-day event.
Delegates participated in collaborative and interactive professional development workshops as well as innovative learning opportunities throughout Montecatini Terme, home of the 2018 Summit. The productive and inspirational annual ATTA event was preceded by action-packed Pre-Summit Adventures and Day of Adventures during which delegates participated in cycling, hiking, wine tasting, coasteering, and more in sunny and colorful Tuscany.
Over the last several years, I've made attending the ATWS a must. The host destinations and adventures are first-class, the panels are amazing tools for professional development and the connections I make with industry innovators are invaluable. It's the most important conference I attend.
