Media Application

AdventureWEEK San'in and Setouchi

Thank you for your interest in joining AdventureWEEK Japan - San’in and Setouchi as an Official Media Delegate! AdventureWEEK gives attending media the opportunity to discover the unique natural and cultural resources and activities in a specific region. Selected official media delegates will learn about Japan through immersive adventure tours and connections with regional suppliers at Marketplace, as well as find inspiration in learning about the value and development of adventure travel.

Applications close 11:59 PM (GMT), 22 JUNE 2026. Final selections will be announced by JULY 2026.

WHO SHOULD APPLY:

The ATTA and our Japan hosts are seeking 3 Official Media Delegates spots at this AdventureWEEK event, who actively publish stories and digital content on ecotourism, adventure travel, and sustainability, and have an interest in producing content and stories about the Japan region. You do not need to be an ATTA member to apply. Eligible applicants should be based in and/or writing for audiences in:

  • AUSTRALIA
  • UNITED KINGDOM
  • USA

Applications will be considered and reviewed with the destination partner, with the goal to host a diverse group of media who specialize in adventure and sustainable travel stories, including:

  • Freelance Journalists with a proven record of publishing in major lifestyle outlets or verticals focused on travel, outdoor adventure, culture, and sustainability, reaching national and global audiences (print and digital).
  • Magazine, Newspaper, or Digital Editors from mainstream lifestyle outlets and vertical publications focusing on travel, outdoor adventure, culture, or sustainability with broad readership.
  • Travel Content Creators (Influencers/Bloggers) who regularly produce editorial content on adventure travel, culture, or environmental topics, with a large, engaged audience (Please note we typically receive the most applications in this category. If applying as a partner/couple team please refer to the FAQs.)
  • Broadcast Journalists & Producers whose stories in television, radio, or podcast formats cover adventure travel or sustainability topics.

Publishers, advertising sales representatives, personal or hobby bloggers, PR agency representatives, marketing agencies/content developers, and film/video producers are not eligible to apply as an Official Media Delegate. 

HOSTED OFFICIAL MEDIA DELEGATES RECEIVE: 

  • A multi-day experiential adventure
  • Accommodations during the event
  • Round-trip economy airfare to and from Japan
  • Airport transfers

ROLE AND EXPECTATIONS AT THE EVENT IF YOUR APPLICATION IS SELECTED:

All Official Media Delegates are considered “working media” and are expected to be actively looking for ways to cover, or create content about, the host destination, the adventure travel industry, and attending delegate’s destinations and products.

ALL selected Official Media Delegates are expected to:

  • Join the FULL event 11-19 November, including the Welcome dinner on November 11 and the Marketplace on the last day.
  • Meet with suppliers and destinations during the Marketplace session and attend every meeting.
  • Respond to ATTA surveys post-event.
  • Publish stories and content from your experience.
  • Be active on the HUB and social media during the event and related adventures.
  • Follow local safety and health protocols, media code of conduct, and obtain valid travel insurance for the duration of the trip.

ABOUT THE SELECTION PROCESS:

Applications will be reviewed with our Japan destination partners after the application close date. Selection will prioritize: 

  • Representation from specific countries (limited number of delegates per country)
  • A diverse mix of media types, topics, audiences, and outlets
  • Balance of first-time media vs. returning media ATTA event participants

Due to limited spots, not all qualified applicants can be selected. Applicants will be notified of their status via email. Coordination of travel to follow upon completion of Official Media Delegate registration process.

Applications close 11:59 PM (GMT), 22 June 2026. Selections will be announced by July 2026.
