MEDIA APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

This application closes on 30 May 2023 (extended--originally 29 May). Applications will be evaluated and final selections will be made by the end of June 2023.

Thank you for your interest in applying to be considered as one of five media at AdventureELEVATE Near East 2023 in Jordan.

AdventureELEVATE Near East gives attending media the opportunity to discover the unique natural and cultural resources and activities in Jordan and the surrounding MENA region. Selected official media delegates will learn about Jordan through immersive adventure tours and make connections with regional suppliers at Marketplace, as well as find inspiration in learning about the value and development of adventure travel through speakers and workshops at the event.

The final selected hosted official media delegates will receive complimentary event registration, accommodations during the event, economy round-trip air, airport transfers, and a multi-day experiential adventure at no cost. Hosted media delegates are required to participate in a multi-day Pre-Adventure tour.

Schedule

If selected, the entire trip length will vary in duration from 9-10 days total, depending on the final selection of Pre-Adventure tour options (4-6 days in length) plus the travel time from your origin city. Tour selections will be made after media selections and registrations are complete.

The event itself is October 13-14, with return departures on October 15.

Selected media are required to attend the duration of the event, including a Pre-Adventure and all conference days: No early departures.

Who should apply

The ATTA and our hosts are seeking five (5) hosted media delegates and are considering media based in (or writing for the markets) listed below, who have an active interest in creating and publishing stories about adventure, responsible, and sustainable travel in Jordan and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Mexico
  • United Kingdom
  • United States
  • Western EU (especially Italy, Germany, and Spain)
  • MENA region

There will also be some consideration for Australia and other South American countries.

Priority will be given to media applicants who have NOT previously attended AdventureNEXT Near East in 2017, 2018, or 2019 as an Official Media delegate.

Please note that with this quantity of spots, there is likely a maximum of one media delegate selected per region listed and the potential for some regions listed not to be represented in the final five. (If you are a partner/couple, please refer to the Official Media at ATTA Events FAQs about how to apply.)

Applications will be considered and reviewed with the destination partner, with the goal to host a diverse group of media who specialize in adventure and sustainable travel stories, including:

    • Freelance Journalists with a proven record of placing articles in mainstream lifestyle outlets or verticals focusing on travel, outdoor adventure, fitness, culture, or environment/sustainability with national and global reach (print and digital).
    • Magazine, Newspaper, or Digital Staff Writers & Editors especially from mainstream lifestyle outlets and/or vertical outlets focusing on travel, outdoor adventure, culture, or environment/sustainability with national and global reach.
    • Travel Content Creators (Influencers/Bloggers) with evidence of regular, current editorial content (i.e., non-sponsored posts) related to adventure travel, outdoor activity, culture, or environmental/sustainability issues with a large, dedicated, and engaged following interested in adventure travel-related content (limited spots).

Publishers, advertising sales representatives, personal or hobby bloggers, PR agency representatives, marketing agencies/content developers, and film/video producers are not eligible to apply as an Official Media delegate.

Role and expectations if you are selected

Official Media delegates are expected to be “working media” meaning whether a freelance journalist, editor, or travel content creator, you will be actively looking for ways to cover the host destination, the adventure travel industry, and attending delegate’s destinations and products.

In addition, all hosted Official Media delegates are:

  • Required to participate in a multi-day Pre-Adventure in Jordan.
  • Required to attend the FULL event (all conference days).
  • Required to attend the Marketplace session during the event, designed to give you more story ideas and connections.
  • Expected to publish something about your experience on adventures.
  • Required to obtain your own travel insurance policy for the trip.

ABOUT THE SELECTION PROCESS
  • Final hosted media selections will be made from the pool of applications received.
  • All applications will be considered, reviewed, and selected with the destination partner.
  • A cross-set of criteria is used in the application evaluation and selection process to curate a final selection of media that represent some of the specific countries listed above and a variety of narratives, outlets, and topics related to adventure travel.
  • Due to the limited number of Official Media delegate spots and the large number of applications typically received, not all qualified applications will be selected.
  • Priority will be given to media applicants who have NOT previously attended AdventureNEXT Near East in 2017, 2018, or 2019 as an Official Media delegate.
  • You will receive an email from ATTA informing you of the status of your application.
  • You do not need to be an ATTA member to apply.
  • More questions? See our Official Media at ATTA Events FAQs

This application closes on 30 May 2023. Applications will be evaluated and final selections will be made by the end of June 2023.
