From 3-6 October 2022, 718 delegates from around the world gathered in Lugano, Switzerland for the annual Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS), held in-person for the first time since 2019.
The Summit’s theme centered around the four natural elements — air, water, fire, and earth. These foundational wonders on which our relationship with nature depends were woven throughout the adventures and educational sessions held over the course of the event.
Switzerland, a world leader in sustainable tourism, offered tangible examples of generating a mutually-nourishing relationship with nature. Attendees discussed the complexity of restoring nature’s balance in an unpredictable world, and how both global communities and adventure tourism benefit when sustainability is prioritized.
The next Adventure Travel World Summit will be held 11-14 September 2023 in Hokkaido, Japan.

The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) is thrilled to have our annual Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) back in-person, for the first time since 2019!
