The Adventure Travel World Summit is a unique opportunity for established tour operators and accommodations to seek out new partnerships, find inspiration with a collaborative group of fellow adventure travel professionals from around the world and contribute to meaningful growth of the adventure travel industry. The Adventure Travel Trade Association has partnered with the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund and Jordan Tourism Board to offer scholarships to five tour operators in 2024.
If you think your company would benefit from joining the ATTA as a member and attending a global ATTA event, then we encourage you to apply for a Scholarship. Learn more about this year's program in Adventure Travel News.
Five Scholarship winners will receive:
- A complimentary Business Membership in the ATTA for 12 months ($650+ USD value)
- One ticket to the 2024 Adventure Travel World Summit in Panama ($2,299 USD value) OR one of our signature AdventureELEVATE regional events in 2025. (2025 events will not be announced until a later date.)
- $1,500 USD travel stipend to use toward airfare, accommodations and/or a Marketplace table
- Credit for one self-paced ATTA EDU course (course restrictions may apply, but recipient will be able to choose from several courses) ($600+ USD value)
Five additional applicants will receive:
- One year of Professional Membership with ATTA ($150 USD value)
- Credit for one self-paced ATTA EDU course (course restrictions may apply, but recipient will be able to choose from several courses) ($600+ USD value)
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on essays and personalized videos describing their unique strategies for making a difference in key areas important to the ATTA community. The application includes the following essay questions and applicants may choose which one to answer:
- What actions is your organization conducting to make a positive impact on climate change?
- What is your company doing to have a positive economic impact on local communities?
- How has your company been innovative in order to conserve cultural heritage?
- Do you have any specific/endemic challenges in your region that you collaborated with in your operations and that you would like to make known?
The application is judged on the content of the essays and actions taken by a company, and not necessarily how well crafted the video or essay is. Applicants are also allowed to submit essays in their own languages, they do not have to be in English. Additionally, applicants may wish to share their story and how their organization would utilize a scholarship via a short video clip. Applicants will need to upload the video to a video service (such as Vimeo or YouTube) and submit the video URL with the application. Please note that while marketing videos may convey information about your organization, we are primarily hoping to hear from you about your scholarship application and how you could make the most of the opportunities.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- At least 18 years old
- A tour operator or accommodations provider that has been in business for at least two years
- Annual revenue is less than $250,000 USD
- Has not won an ATWS scholarship before
- Has not been to an ATWS before
Winners are selected by a committee that includes ATTA Staff, Board members and Ambassadors as well as representatives from ATCF.
The deadline for applications is 11:59 pm (PDT) on 17 May 2024. Winners will be notified by 28 June 2024.
