Cultural leaders are responding to a climate of fear and exclusion with visions of inclusiveness and balance.

– Hilde Schwab (Chairperson and Co-Founder, The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship)

In this sensitive era of international culture clashes, the pressure is on all of us to co-create new ways of living and working together across our gender, political, racial, class, orientation, ethnic, religious, and other differences. In fact, those differences can make our companies — and our industry — a more meaningful, creative, and enjoyable place to work.

Adventure industry leaders: How are you doing at creating valuable partnerships? Has your company developed an inclusive corporate culture? Are all of your team members’ voices being heard? Recruiting and retention are among the first steps in ensuring your organization is diverse, but leveraging differences and helping people actually work together is entirely different.

This day-long intensive workshop is designed for all leaders — regardless of gender — who seek to take a proactive approach to leading confidently and skillfully within a diverse context, and want people working for and with them to contribute from a place of authenticity.

Are you ready to take on the challenge? Through experiential exercises, robust conversations, and tangible skill-building, we’ll navigate how to develop partnerships across difference — so all participants can develop an awareness of their own identities while also understanding the ways in which they experience both privilege and oppression. Together we’ll learn to lead with courage and open hearts, even when it is hard.

During the Rising Together Studio, participants will:

  1. Examine the landscape of differences for leaders in adventure travel.
  2. Explore the implications and impacts of unconscious bias and their impact on partnerships.
  3. Understand more about how systemic racism, sexism, heterosexism, and classism operate as advantages in our work, community, and personal lives.
  4. Become more conscious about what we each do to reinforce unproductive dynamics.
  5. Identify new options for leading and partnering differently across differences at work and in other interactions.

Participants will also:

  • Receive a Certificate of Completion attesting to their engagement in and elevation of their leadership skills.
  • Be included in a private member group in the ATTA’s Adventure HUB.

Attend if you are committed to equity and inclusivity. Attend if you want to empower others. Attend to learn, to explore, to create, to refresh. Connect. Make a difference. Be the difference.
